Signs You Should Replace Your Roof

The roof on your home is not going to last forever, and unfortunately, you are going to have to replace your roofing at some point in the future. You should try to install a new roof in Ridgewood before your old one has any serious problems that cause issues in other parts of your home. Check out some warning signs that might indicate you need to replace your roof.

Roofing shingles are beginning to curl, crack, or fall off.

Are there roofing shingles that are missing from your roof? Are there shingles that look like they are cracking? Does your roof look old? If you answered yes to any of these questions, there’s a good chance that you need to start thinking about having new roofing put on your home. When your roof needs to be replaced, you will usually be able to tell simply by looking at it.

Granules from your roofing shingles are showing up in your gutters.

The granules that are located on your roofing shingles are there to protect the asphalt on the shingles from getting too warm and deteriorating. If you start to see granules falling off of the shingles, it’s only a matter of time before you start to notice issues with the shingles themselves. This doesn’t necessarily indicate a roofing emergency, but it is a cause for concern.

The roofing is sagging.

Certain parts of your roofing may look like they are sagging into your attic. This can take place when water starts to seep through the roof. It’s obviously a very bad sign and, if you don’t take care of it quickly, your entire roof could cave in and collapse. This would result in you repairing more than just your roof.

The roof is more than 20 years old.

The typical asphalt roof will last for between 20 and 30 years. Once it hits its 20th birthday, you should start to check on it more often and perform the necessary maintenance. By doing this, you will probably be able to put off replacing it for at least a little longer.
